Investigo el comportamiento y la especiación geoquímica de metales y metaloides en sistemas ambientales de suelo-agua contaminados, a nivel tanto macroscópico como molecular. En especial el comportamiento de sorción (retención) de especies contaminantes en minerales relevantes del ambiente de tamaños de partícula muy pequeños (micro- y nanométricos); así como su remediación por medio de fenómenos de sorción y transformación en dichas superficies. Las técnicas que se aplican incluyen quimica húmeda, espectroscopías de absorción y emisión, UV/Vis, IR, polarografía, DRX y FRX, Absorción de Rayos X – EXAFS y microscopías electrónicas. Mantengo colaboraciones con investigadores de San Luis Potosí, Sonora, Universidad de Arizona, Universidad de Illinois, Universidad de California en Berkeley, Universidad de Johns Hopkins, Universidad de Connecticut, CSIC-España, Wuhan-China, etc.
