Mi línea de investigación se enfoca en identificar y descifrar los eventos tectónicos que modelaron la margen Pacífica de Norte América con base en cambios en la composición de las rocas sedimentarias clásticas. En particular, en los últimos años, me he dedicado a reconstruir la evolución tectono-estratigráfica de la Cuenca de Arperos, una cuenca de trasarco del Jurásico Tardío-Cretácico Temprano cuya inversión y consecuente cierre llevaron a la acreción del terreno Guerrero al núcleo continental de México. Las herramientas que empleo en mi investigación son las clásicas de la petrología sedimentaria, las que incluyen el levantamiento de columnas estratigráficas, el análisis petrográfico cuantitativo de roca total y el análisis composicional de minerales pesados.
